Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide detectives are investigating a single-vehicle crash that they said left a man dead early Wednesday in northwest Miami-Dade.
Authorities said the crash happened just after 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of Northwest 103rd Street and Northwest 17th Avenue in the county’s Westview area.
Deputies arrived to find the vehicle engulfed in flames, authorities said.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue firefighters extinguished the fire, but the driver, who was the vehicle’s sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to investigators.
Sky 10 flew over the scene around 9:35 a.m., where crime scene tape remained up, a damaged car was covered with a yellow tarp.
Deputies said the crash closed all lanes on Northwest 103rd Street from Northwest 17th Avenue to Northwest 21st Avenue. Drivers are urged to avoid the area, use alternate routes and expect delays.
Authorities have not released the victim’s identity or said what caused the vehicle to crash.
No other details about the crash were immediately released.
