A 30-year-old Houston, Texas, service member is charged after his involvement in two crashes led to a 16-year-old Pensacola girl being seriously injured on Tuesday evening.
Florida Highway Patrol says F, driver of a Jeep, was charged with DUI and hit and run.
F allegedly rear-ended a KIA sedan on Perdido Key Drive at approximately 9:30 p.m. He then fled the crash.
FHP says he traveled southbound in the northbound lane on Perdido Key Bridge. He collided head-on with a Chevy sedan, driven by the teen girl.
F and the girl were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The 70-year-old driver of the KIA sedan was not injured.
The crash caused a two-hour shutdown of Perdido Key Bridge.
“Approximately 4.5 hours after the collision, the 30-year-old service member provided a breath sample resulting in .163, doubling the legal limit,” FHP says.
According to FHP, F was also charged with leaving a crash scene without rendering aid and cited for possessing several open containers while operating a motor vehicle.
F was released from Escambia County Jail on Tuesday morning.
