The Villages Public Safety Department quickly contained a garage fire Sunday night, preventing the blaze from spreading to neighboring homes in The Villages.
The fire broke out at a home in the 500 block of Gilson Loop in the Village of St. Catherine
“Engine 47 arrived first on scene and encountered heavy fire and smoke coming from the front of the residence, with flames involving the attached garage and a vehicle parked in the driveway. Firefighters immediately secured the home’s natural gas service and initiated an aggressive fire attack while additional crews arrived to support suppression efforts,” said R, deputy chief of operations for the fire department.
Multiple attack lines were deployed to extinguish the garage fire and protect neighboring homes.
“The quick actions of VPSD crews prevented the fire from extending further and protected the neighboring structure from more significant damage,” R added.
No civilians or firefighters were injured.
