Sleeping driver, wrong-way driver crash into Tampa patrol cars just days apart

A sleeping driver and a wrong-way driver were caught on camera crashing into Tampa police patrol cars just days apart, the police department said.

“In about 72 hours, our officers were involved in crashes caused by drivers who never should have been behind the wheel,” the police department posted on Facebook.

On July 22, police said an impaired driver traveled the wrong way through a neighborhood. Just days later, officers said another driver fell asleep behind the wheel.

Both crashes ended with officers’ patrol cars being struck. No one was hurt.
