Woman airlifted to hospital in critical condition, man taken into custody after crash in SW Miami-Dade

An elderly woman in critical condition and a man is in custody after a crash in Southwest Miami-Dade.

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office officials said that the crash happened early Sunday morning near Southwest 295th Street.

The woman was airlifted to Jackson South Medical Center in critical condition.

B, 31, was taken into custody and charged with leaving the scene of a crash and driving without a license.

According to deputies, following the crash, he fled the scene on foot and hid in a shed.

Upon being found by deputies, he admitted to drinking five beers prior to the crash and told them that he doesn’t have legal status in the U.S.

As of late Sunday night, B is behind bars and has an immigration hold.
