1 dead, 1 injured after two-vehicle crash in Polk County

Deputies are investigating after a crash in Polk County left one person dead Sunday Morning.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred on Cypress Parkway around 6:07 a.m.

First responders arrived on scene and found a man dead inside his 2025 Hyundai Elantra. The driver of a 2012 Toyota 4Runner was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening facial injuries.

Detectives determined that the Toyota was traveling west and the Elantra was traveling east when, for an unknown reason, the Toyota crossed the center line and collided with the Elantra.

Cypress Parkway was closed for two-and-a-half hours while crews worked to clear the scene.

Deputies will decide whether or not to file charges once the investigation is concluded.
