Semi, car crash closes Highway 70 intersection in Okeechobee County

A crash involving a semi and a car shut down an intersection along Highway 70 in Okeechobee County, according to the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened at the intersection of Northeast 128th Avenue, also known as Berman Road or Posey’s Corner, and Highway 70.

The sheriff’s office said the crash forced the intersection and surrounding roadways to close in both directions. Drivers were being turned around before reaching the closure.

Authorities urged motorists to avoid the area entirely and use alternate routes.

The sheriff’s office said additional updates would be provided as more information becomes available.
