New details have emerged regarding Thursday’s early morning crash between a Palm Beach County school bus and a pickup truck in Greenacres.

According to an official crash report from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division, the collision occurred when the school bus attempted a left turn. Traveling westbound on Lantana Road, the bus attempted to turn south onto Pine Needle Lane South, failing to yield and violating the right-of-way of an oncoming eastbound Ford F-150 driven by a 20-year-old Lake Worth man.

During the crash, the driver’s side of the Ford F-150 sideswiped the front of the school bus. Both vehicles were deflected southwest and came to rest on the median bullnose of Pine Needle Lane South, per deputies.

While early reports indicated no injuries among bus occupants, the sheriff’s office report clarifies that the 36-year-old school bus driver and a 16-year-old student passenger sustained minor injuries. The driver and all 10 students were evaluated at the scene by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.

All four occupants of the Ford F-150, including the driver and three passengers, were injured. The driver and one passenger suffered serious injuries, while two other passengers received minor injuries. Four occupants from the pickup were transported to Delray Medical Center for treatment following extrication by emergency crews.

It is unclear if any charges are pending against the bus driver at this time.
