The Florida Highway Patrol said a person died in a crash on I-75 northbound at mile marker 111 in Collier County on Tuesday.

According to FHP, a Chevrolet Express Van, driven by a 62-year-old man, and a Mercedes Van, driven by a 28-year-old man, were traveling in the center lane of northbound I-75 near mile marker 111, about 200 feet north of the Immokalee Road overpass.

The Mercedes Van was in front of the Chevrolet Van, and stopped for traffic ahead, FHP said. The driver of the Chevrolet van then failed to slow down and crashed into the back of the Mercedes Van.

The 62-year-old driver of the Chevrolet van sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. He was later pronounced dead, FHP said. The driver of the Mercedes van did not sustain any injuries.

FHP said the crash is still under investigation.
