Ormond Beach man killed in Lake County motorcycle crash

A 36-year-old Ormond Beach man was killed in a motorcycle crash Wednesday afternoon in Lake County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 1:40 p.m. on County Road 42 near Central Camp Road, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the man was riding a motorcycle eastbound on County Road 42, west of Central Camp Road, when he attempted to negotiate a curve to the left.

The motorcycle ran off of the roadway right and onto the grass shoulder, where it struck a tree, the report states.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to FHP. It was unknown whether he was wearing a helmet during the crash, troopers said.

FHP is still investigating.
