The Tampa Police Department said a bicyclist was killed after he was involved in a crash early Monday morning.

The crash happened shortly before 5:45 a.m. on Hillsborough Avenue near the intersection with North 36th Street.

Police said the man was critically injured and died at the scene.

Traffic is being diverted between 34th Street and 37th Street as law enforcement investigates the collision.

Drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes if possible.
