Four people were hospitalized after a Polk County ambulance was involved in a crash in Poinciana Saturday morning, officials said.
A Polk County Fire Rescue ambulance, with its lights and sirens on, was responding to a call at around 11:20 a.m. on Sept. 12.
While traveling through the intersection at Bayberry Street and Marigold Avenue, the ambulance was involved in what appeared to be a head-on crash with a large dump truck.
A third vehicle, a white sedan, was also involved in the crash. Photos show the car on the grassy shoulder with serious damage to the front and back.
PCFR said four people were hospitalized with injuries, including both of the first responders in the ambulance and one occupant from each of the two other vehicles.
The circumstances of the crash were not detailed, and it’s unknown whether any of the drivers are expected to be cited. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
