3 injured in wrong-way crash on I-75 in Sumter County

SUMTER COUNTY, FL – A head-on collision on Interstate 75 left three people injured on Sunday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

State troopers reported that the incident occurred just south of State Road 91 when a 22-year-old Ocala man was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes and collided with a Land Rover driven by a 57-year-old woman from Texas. Both drivers were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, while a male passenger in the Land Rover was hospitalized with critical injuries. Investigators noted that it remains unclear where the vehicle initially entered the highway heading in the wrong direction, and the crash remains under active investigation.
