A man in his early 20s was hospitalized after being shot Sunday night in Jacksonville’s Brooklyn neighborhood, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Officers responded at about 7:50 p.m. to Spruce Street near Stonewall Street in Brooklyn after receiving a report of a person shot. At the same time, officers were dispatched to a hospital, where they found the man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
JSO said the two calls are related. The victim is being treated and is cooperating with investigators. The suspect remains unknown.
Detectives are processing the scene and canvassing the Brooklyn neighborhood for surveillance video and additional evidence. No shell casings were found, and investigators are still determining whether any nearby homes or businesses were struck by gunfire.
JSO said the shooting does not appear to be domestic- or gang-related. Investigators believe it was an isolated incident and said there is no ongoing threat to the community.
