Man arrested after ‘accidentally shooting’ 16-year-old in Daytona Beach

A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that left a 16-year-old in critical condition, the Daytona Beach Police Department said.

The shooting happened Wednesday night at a home on the 1400 block of South Palmetto Avenue, off South Ridgewood Avenue and Beville Road.

Upon arrival, officers found the teen victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Daytona Beach police arrested Edward Brown in connection with a shooting. He is charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child.

Detectives say Brown and the victim are known to each other. Based on the preliminary investigation, the shooting does not appear to have resulted from an argument and is believed to have been accidental.

The Daytona Beach Police Department is not releasing the identity of the 16-year-old victim. The investigation remains ongoing.
