Body covered by tarp after pedestrian struck by SUV in Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale police are investigating a crash that left a pedestrian dead Monday morning.

According to police, the crash occurred in the area of West Broward Boulevard and Northwest 18^th Avenue.

Police confirmed that a man was struck by a vehicle.

Sky 10 was above the scene just after 10 a.m. as a white tarp covered the victim’s body and the SUV was stopped on the sidewalk.

The area was blocked off with crime scene tape.

Police confirmed that the driver of the SUV remained at the scene and was transported to Broward Health Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries.

While eastbound lanes of Broward Boulevard were shut down after the crash, all lanes have since reopened.

The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation.
