The northbound lanes of I-95 in Martin County have reopened after a deadly crash Monday morning.
A driver was killed early Monday after their car crashed into the back of a box truck on northbound I-95 in Martin County, according to new details from the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said a 2027 Hino box truck was traveling north in the outside lane while a 2020 Honda Civic traveled north in the inside lane and approached the truck.
The front of the Honda collided with the rear of the box truck, and the Honda became fully engulfed in flames, FHP said.
The Honda’s driver, who has not been identified pending next-of-kin notification, was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:05 a.m. The 37-year-old Miami man driving the box truck was not injured.
Following the deadly crash, a stretch of northbound I-95 was closed for several hours. Since then the roadway has reopened.
All northbound lanes of I-95 remain closed for the investigation, with traffic diverted to Indiantown Road.
