One man in critical condition after crash on State Road 71

One man is in critical condition after being rear-ended by a tractor-trailer on State Road 71 just south of Mt Tabor Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, on Monday, Sept. 28, around 5:40 p.m., officials responded to a collision involving a tractor-trailer and a minivan.

FHP says both vehicles were traveling on State Road 71, and as the tractor-trailer attempted to turn right into a driveway, it struck the rear of the minivan.

After the collision, both vehicles came to final rest on the east shoulder of State Road 71.

Jackson County EMS transported the driver of the minivan with critical injuries. The driver of the semi sustained minor injuries and was not transported at the scene.

FHP was assisted by members of the Florida Department of Agriculture Law Enforcement, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, and EMS.
