All southbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike were closed in St. Lucie County late Friday morning because of a vehicle fire, according to Florida 511.

The fire was reported before mile marker 162. Florida 511 listed the incident as major and said the right shoulder is closed as of 12:22 p.m.

Live video from Florida 511 shows traffic moving slowly around emergency vehicles stopped on the shoulder.

The incident began at about 10:56 a.m. Motorists should avoid the area and seek alternate routes while crews respond.

It was not immediately clear whether anyone was injured or how long the closure would last.
