Three die in crash on State Road 100, north of Palatka

State troopers are investigating a deadly four-vehicle crash with multiple fatalities in Putnam County on Thursday.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers say three people were killed in the crash on State Road 100 near Bardin Road around 7 p.m.

Troopers say a 64-year-old man from Alachua was driving his car eastbound on the state road when he attempted to pass two pickup trucks in front of him.

His car collided with another car headed westbound in the oncoming lane. His car then hit one of the pickup trucks and went off the roadway. The other pickup truck collided with debris from the first crash.

Troopers say the 64-year-old died, as did two men in the other car, ages 23 and 26, both from Orlando.

The driver of one of the pickups reported minor injuries. The people in the final vehicle weren’t hurt.
