Driver dies after crashing into Selmon Expressway pylon

A driver died after they crashed into one of the Selmon Expressway pylons early Monday.

Tampa police said they responded to a single-vehicle crash around 1:21 a.m. Officers said the driver hit a pylon attached to the Selmon Expressway.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The inside lanes of east and west Gandy Boulevard were closed for the investigation. They reopened about four hours after the crash.
