There was a street takeover late Saturday night in northwestern Miami-Dade County. Fans set up a pit for the spinners. That’s when police officers said they identified a white Chevrolet Camaro with a covered license plate.
Jake Ross was behind the wheel of the Camaro doing donuts at Northwest 183 Street and Second Court when he sped away from police officers and a police helicopter followed, according to a police arrest report.
Ross, 22, of Sunrise, had a passenger when he crashed early Sunday morning into a fence near Weston Road and West State Road 84 in Broward County, and police officers arrested him, according to the arrest report.
Detectives reported the arrest was part of an operation involving detectives with the Miami and Miami-Dade police departments focused on disrupting street takeovers. They reported issuing 13 citations, impounding two cars, and arresting two suspects.
A detective arrested Jose Espinosa at about 2 a.m., on Sunday, at Northwest 103 Street and 22 Avenue. Detectives accused the Sunny Isles Beach resident of driving a black BMW 330i with a white bumper to several street takeovers.
Detectives reported having videos shared on Instagram with Espinosa, 19, doing donuts at pits for spinners on May, 28 at Northwest 37 Avenue and 25 Street and on Aug. 5 at Northwest 215 Street and 47 Avenue.
