The Florida Highway Patrol explains the details of a crash happening late Tuesday morning.
An 83-year-old man in a sedan was headed East on Tempest Harbor Loop and approached a stop sign. A 56-year-old man in a truck was driving South on River road, and approached the same intersection.
The sedan turned right and moved in the direct path of the truck. The truck had the right of way.
The truck slammed into the back of the sedan. Sarasota County EMS pronounced the driver of the sedan dead on scene.
FHP traffic homicide unit is continuing to investigate.
