Driver dies nearly a month after West Palm Beach crash

An 83-year-old woman involved in a West Palm Beach crash nearly a month ago passed away earlier this week.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO), Helen West died on Tuesday while in hospice care from injuries she sustained in the wreck.

The PBSO crash report indicates the West Palm Beach woman had been heading south on Kirk Road, near the Summit Boulevard intersection, on the night of January 5, when she went to turn left.

Her Kia SUV turned left in front of an oncoming Toyota Camry and the two vehicles collided.

West was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center and later transferred to a hospice center, the report stated. It noted the 25-year-old driver of the sedan suffered minor injuries in the wreck.
