Motorcyclist killed in Flagler County crash, troopers say

A Palm Coast man riding a motorcycle in Flagler Beach was killed in a crash early Sunday after attempting to overtake an SUV, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 12:23 a.m. on State Road A1A at 9th Street South, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the 54-year-old man was riding a motorcycle southbound on S.R. A1A when he tried to overtake an SUV on the left side. The front wheel of the motorcycle struck a raised concrete median, causing the bike to overturn multiple times as the rider was ejected, the report states.

The man landed in the center median while the motorcycle came to final rest in the northbound lane of S.R. A1A, facing east, according to FHP.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said, adding he was wearing a helmet during the crash.
