A Leesburg woman was arrested after allegedly using a Bible as a weapon in an angry attack on her mother at the Rodeway Inn.
Officers responded to Roadway Inn, located at 1115 W. North Blvd., regarding a battery complaint at 10:35 a.m. Feb. 24, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.
Upon arrival, the officers met with 33-year-old TLP in the front entrance of the hotel. She stated she was in a verbal argument with her mother about being kicked out of her room by management. The report noted that the mother is an employee of the hotel.
Contact was then made with the mother inside the front lobby. She advised that P had struck her on the left side of her face with her right hand. She was also hit with a Bible in the back as she was walking away from P. She was unsure what else she was battered with due to P throwing multiple things at her, the report said.
Photographs were taken of the victim, showing redness on her left cheek. The Rodeway Inn provided footage of the incident, which showed the altercation in the manner described by the victim, the report said.
A criminal history check revealed P had two guilty convictions for battery from 2019 and 2024, the report said.
P was subsequently arrested and charged with battery (second or subsequent offense). She was transported to Lake County Jail with bond set at $15,000.
She was also arrested in Feb. 2024 for allegedly attacking a mother and daughter outside their home and in Oct. 2023 for stealing a gun belt from a decorative scarecrow at the LPD.
