A woman has been accused of pushing her boyfriend into a fire pit during a gathering of family and friends.
KAW, 48, of Ocklawaha, was booked Sunday at the Marion County Jail on a charge of battery.
She was arrested as the result of a Feb.15 incident in which W and the man “became drunk” and she “got in his face while he was talking into the microphone on stage in front of the guests,” according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. About 10 to 15 minutes later, she grabbed him by the chin “due to him not paying attention to her.” She also slapped his right ear several times. Later, as he was speaking to friends sitting in chairs near a fire pit, she pushed him, which caused him to fall over a chair and into the fire pit. He escaped being seriously burned.
The attack was witnessed by the man’s grandmother.
W, who had been living with the man for about two months, downplayed the incident and said she was being playful.
