Police: Woman charged with DUI after crash with unbuckled child in Fort Walton Beach

A woman is in jail after a rollover crash that included a six-year-old child in Fort Walton Beach Tuesday morning, according to a police chief.

Fort Walton Beach Police Chief Robert Bage says it happened at Beal Parkway and Walter Martin Road.

The chief says firefighters rescued the child and the driver from the overturned vehicle. Both had minor injuries.

The child was not buckled up, the chief says. The driver was identified as 35-year-old MG.

According to the chief, she showed signs of impairment and refused to take a DUI test. She was charged with DUI and child neglect.

G is now being held at the Okaloosa County Jail. She is without bond at the moment.
