Broward County deputies arrested a man on a felony charge after they said he became enraged at a senior who mistook him for a Walmart employee and asked him a question.
Deputies arrested YT, 63, of Lauderhill, on a felony charge of battery on a person over 65, according to an arrest report obtained Thursday by Local 10 News.
Authorities said the incident happened Monday at the Walmart at 3001 N. State Road 7 in Lauderdale Lakes.
The victim, a 68-year-old man, told a deputy patrolling the store’s parking lot that T “slapped him in the face with an open palm and then kicked him in the butt for asking him a question about why the shopping carts were empty, assuming T worked for Walmart,” an arrest report states.
Authorities said CCTV footage showed the “heated disagreement.”
As of Thursday, T remained in the Broward Main Jail on a $3,500 bond and, even though court and jail records list his place of birth as Missouri, an immigration hold.
