2 men arrested after shooting at Hernando County party injures 18-year-old, deputies say

Two men were arrested after a shooting at a party injured an 18-year-old early Monday morning, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies said they were called to a home on Ranchette Boulevard in Webster about a shooting at 12:30 a.m.

Investigators said they learned that a fight broke out between an 18-year-old and 20-year-old DM. Witnesses told deputies that M’s friend, HW, fired several rounds from a handgun into the ground in an attempt to break up the fight.

W and M then got into the F-250 and left the party. However, deputies said as M was driving away, W fired several rounds from a rifle into a group of people standing outside, striking the 18-year-old. The 18-year-old was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies said they located the suspect’s F-250 in the area of Spring Hill Drive and Coronado Drive in Spring Hill. They conducted a traffic stop and located W, M and another individual, all of whom had been at the party in Webster.

Deputies said they found two firearms in the truck: a rifle and a handgun.

W was arrested on charges of second-degree attempted murder with a firearm, aggravated battery, and shooting within an occupied vehicle with a deadly weapon.

He was taken to the Hernando County Detention Center where he is being held without bond.

M was arrested on charges of accessory after the fact for attempted murder in the second degree with a firearm. He was taken to the Hernando County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
