Fire crews with Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) said no injuries were reported when they responded to a house fire in Silver Springs Tuesday morning, but could not save the lives of two dogs stuck in the home.

MCFR crews said it happened around 11:21 a.m. Tuesday near the 18600 block of Southeast 22nd Lane.

Multiple people called 911 to report a mobile home on fire with heavy smoke and flames.

Crews arrived on the scene in four minutes, according to authorities, and immediately began attacking the fire.

Firefighters said they worked quickly to extinguish the fire, while rescue crews completed the primary and secondary search of the home.

Sadly, rescuers discovered the two dogs had perished in the fire.

One occupant of the home was transported to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

No injuries were reported to firefighters at the scene.

The American Red Cross was called to assist the other occupants of the home.

The cause and origin of the fire are still under investigation, according to MCFR officials.
