Multi-vehicle crash involving FHP trooper vehicle causes delays on I-75 in Estero

An investigation is under way into a multi-vehicle crash involving a Florida Highway Patrol car on I-75 northbound in Estero Tuesday night.

According to FHP, a trooper was finishing up with a prior crash when another vehicle hit the rear of the trooper’s car. In a news release, FHP said the trooper was sitting in his Dodge Charger patrol car parked on the left shoulder.

A Hyundai Sonata was traveling at a high rate of speed and collided with the rear of a Nissan Versa. The Hyundai then overturned and hit the trooper’s vehicle.

FHP said two people were transported to the hospital from another vehicle with minor injuries, and the trooper was not injured.

Troopers said a total of four vehicles were damaged in the crash. The crash is under investigation.
