Man shoots neighbor during ‘property dispute’ in Gilchrist County, deputies say

Gilchrist County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a shooting involving neighbors on Wednesday morning.

Sheriff’s deputies say the shooting occurred in an unincorporated area outside the town of Bell just before 9 a.m. at the 20th Block of Northwest 30th Street.

When deputies arrived, one person was given medical attention and was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries from multiple gunshot wounds. The shooting occurred over a “property dispute,” according to officials.

“It’s unreal. I can’t believe they would do something like that,” shared resident ML.

Deputies arrested the suspected gunman, identified as SRS, 40, and say there is no threat to the community. S is charged with attempted homicide and aggravated battery.

Last may, court records show Skrabec trespassed on a neighbors property.

Residents say the dispute is over a fence between the two properties, and they tell TV20 this dispute has been going on for more than a year. Neighbors say the man shot is a father.

Lee says she is shocked that a dispute would lead to this type of violence.

“I would tell them just take a ride or something. You don’t have to be around it. Just cool off, and chill, and everything you know,” L said.

Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office officials said the investigation remains active.
