A memorial has been set up for a teenage boy who died in a crash at Lakeland Avenue and Madison Drive in the Willoughby Acres neighborhood in North Naples.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 14-year-old Naples boy riding an e-bike died in the crash.

The crash happened at approximately 5 p.m. Saturday.

FHP troopers said the teen was going east on Madison Drive and was approaching a posted stop sign at the intersection of Lakeland Avenue.

An SUV was traveling south on Lakeland Avenue, where there was no stop sign, according to the report.

The teen entered the intersection and was hit by the SUV. He suffered critical injuries and was later pronounced dead after being transported to an area hospital.

SJ, who lives nearby, stepped in to help.

“We all were doing everything we could,” she said. “We were calling 911, praying, consoling the other little boy that was there. Bryce, our neighbor, actually stopped and did CPR. He was such a hero.”

She said she doesn’t want to see anything like this happen again.

“Every day, I see hundreds of these kids on these e-bikes, and they don’t know they’re doing anything wrong, but it’s just so scary,” J said. “I just feel like, as a community, we need to come together and do something.”

The FHP said the crash remains under investigation.
