The City of DeFuniak Springs Fire Department was dispatched to the 100 Block of Orange Avenue for a house fire.
Firefighters quickly arrived on the scene at a home fully ablaze and received multiple reports of a puppy who was unaccounted for and possibly trapped inside.
Firemen made an aggressive attack on the fire while conducting a quick primary search in an attempt to rescue.
According to officials, while the fire was contained and extinguished to its point of origin, no victim or puppy was initially located.
Officials confirmed the resident was not home at the time of the fire and the puppy was rescued from a void space under the home. The puppy was returned to the homeowner safe and sound.
