2-year-old boy dies after accidentally shooting himself, JSO says

A 2-year-old died Sunday after police say it appears he found a gun and accidentally shot himself.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the shooting happened at around 7 p.m. on Calvary Drive in the Wesconnett area of the Westside.

Detectives said the child was taken to a local hospital, where he died.

According to JSO, both parents were being interviewed at police headquarters downtown.
