What started as an argument over the phone escalated into something much more serious Tuesday after a man grabbed a gun and shot his nephew, Manatee County deputies said.
The shooting happened Tuesday morning at the La-Mirada Garden Apartments on 55th Avenue Circle East in Bradenton, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said M R, 52, had a tense phone call with his 39-year-old nephew just after 10:30 a.m. that day.
He then retreived a handgun and fired a single round at his nephew, investigators said. The bullet struck the 39-year-old on the right side of the pelvic area.
The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he remained in stable condition Tuesday, according to authorities.
Marceleno was taken into custody and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
The investigation remained ongoing Tuesday, and no further information was immediately available.
