Bus full of watermelons causes brush fire near Aracadia

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. —

Charlotte County Fire and EMS were dispatched to a reported vehicle fire on SR-31 just north of Bermont Road around 4:30 p.m. on April 27.

The vehicle was an old school bus transporting watermelons.

The bus began smoking when the driver pulled over to the shoulder of the road. The fire on the bus caused a small brush fire in the surrounding area.

The fire was eventually extinguished.

There were no reported hospitalizations. One person refused care.
