Man dies after losing control of pick-up truck, hitting tree in Union County: FHP

UNION COUNTY, Fla. – A 57-year-old man died Sunday night when he lost control of the pick-up truck he was driving, overcorrected and hit a tree along Country Road 18 about 15 minutes southwest of Lake Butler, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the man, who is from Lake Butler, was headed west on County Road 18, near County Road 241, around 8 p.m. when he drifted onto the grassy shoulder, overcorrected, crossed the oncoming lane and hit a tree along the roadway.

Troopers said the man was not wearing a seat belt. He died at the scene.
