A Leesburg woman was arrested for battery after allegedly throwing things at her boyfriend for his past of “cheating.”
Officers responded to a battery at an undisclosed Lake County residence at 8:50 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. The male victim, who stood near a white 1997 Chevrolet truck, advised that he was in a verbal argument with his girlfriend of two years, 34-year-old AMM.
The victim suggested the argument was over his past acts of “cheating.” While arguing with one another, M grabbed multiple items in her general area to throw toward his face. He could not specify what exactly was thrown at him, the report said.
Once the victim was struck, M yelled at him to leave the residence. But she stood in front of the entrance when he tried to do so. He slightly pushed her to the side so he could leave, his right hand brushing against hers in the process, the report said.
M then brought her hand, which was holding a cigarette, to one of her eyes. The victim claimed that she did it to herself when he tried to leave the residence, the report said.
While speaking with the victim, the officer observed redness on his top right upper lip and torn skin on his bottom lip. He refused to give a sworn statement and just wanted to leave, the report said.
The officer moved on to speak with M who advised that she and the victim were in their bedroom arguing about him seeing another woman. During this, he stood up and lunged at her. He also repeatedly struck her with an open fist, the report said.
The victim then put his hand around M’s neck and tried to choke her. She feared for her life and grabbed multiple items near her general area to throw at him. He responded by grabbing a cigarette and hitting one of her eyes with it. She could not specify which eye was struck and refused to complete a statement, the report said.
As the officer spoke to M, he smelled alcohol coming from her breath. He also noticed that when she explained what happened, she continuously rubbed her neck, which caused it to turn red, the report said.
The officer proceeded to inspect M for injuries, but none were found. Law enforcement was permitted to inspect their bedroom by her, and they found a broken lamp on the floor. There were also numerous bottles of small Fireball beverages near the area, the report said.
Due to the living room being observed with trash along with a broken lamp and numerous bottles of Fireball, the damage corroborated the victim’s statement. The observations on scene and the marks on the victim did, as well. Due to the victim and M being in a two-year relationship and living together for one year, the incident was deemed domestic in nature, the report said.
M was subsequently arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic) and transported to Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $5,000.
She was also arrested in February on suspicion of DUI when she was found asleep in a truck at a gas pump at Kangaroo Express.
