Clermont man, 78, dies in head-on crash with parked van in Orange County

A 78-year-old Clermont man was killed Tuesday night when his SUV crashed head-on with a parked van in Orange County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The fatal wreck happened around 7:05 p.m. on 18th Street, west of Woods Street, near South Orange Blossom Trail.

The FHP said the man was driving a 2012 Ford Escape east on 18th Steet when he failed to observe the van, which was unoccupied and parked.

The front of the SUV struck the front of the van, an FHP crash report stated.

The man was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center and was pronounced dead, the FHP said.

No other details were released.
