One person is in the hospital after a small plane crashed near Ocala International Airport Wednesday night.
Ocala Fire Rescue workers tell TV20 that the plane went down around 9:30 p.m. along Southwest 67th Avenue outside of the airport property.
The plane crash-landed without hitting any structures.
Ocala Police officers say the pilot of the plane was the only person on board and had to be extricated from the wreckage and was taken to the hospital as a trauma alert. Officers say the pilot is expected to survive.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the crash.
