Lanes reopen after deadly crash shuts down I-95 during morning rush in Miami-Dade

Florida Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash on Interstate 95 in Miami-Dade that shut down a stretch of the highway early Thursday, causing heavy delays during morning rush hour.

The crash happened in the southbound lanes of I-95 at Northwest 103rd Street. Lanes have since reopened.

Troopers were dispatched at around 3:12 a.m. to the scene that appeared to involve two cars and a motorcycle. Information on the cause and victims was not immediately available.

Video showed the apparent motorcycle and a vehicle in the express lanes, and one other car in the main lanes. Pieces of the vehicles could be seen all over the roadway.

Drivers were being diverted at 125th Street. Traffic cameras showed that most lanes reopened at about 9:15 a.m.

Drivers were advised to take Florida’s Turnpike, U.S. 1, U.S. 441 or Northwest 7th Street as alternate routes.
