A Florida man asks a stranger for a ride in the Walmart parking lot and stabs him with a box cutter before stealing the car, cops say.

Florida police said they arrested a suspect accused of stabbing a man with a box cutter after she was offered a ride from a Walmart parking lot in Miami-Dade County.

Investigators said Nelson Angel Bellon approached a 56-year-old man Saturday evening and asked for a ride. The man agreed and Bellon told him where he wanted to go.

While en route, Bellon allegedly asked the man to get out of the vehicle, then pulled out a box cutter and stabbed the victim multiple times in the upper body.

According to WPLG-TV, witnesses said they heard screaming and saw the men fighting after the car came to a stop at the intersection of Southwest 93 Avenue and Fourth Lane. They said the victim collapsed after getting out of the car.

Some bystanders came to the victim’s aid while the attacker drove away in the stolen car.

Cellphone video obtained by WPLG showed the aftermath of the attack as first responders from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived to treat the victim. The attacker was also reportedly captured on video calmly driving away.

The victim was in critical but stable condition after being transported to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital.

Police said the car was recovered around 2 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Southwest Eighth Street. Bellon was taken into custody a short time later and police said he confessed when questioned at the MDPD Northside Station. He was charged with attempted murder and armed carjacking.

Bellon has been held at the Miami-Dade County Pre-Trial Detention Center since Tuesday.

Police clarified that the victim was not a rideshare driver.
