One adult, two children and a dog escaped a home during a garage fire in San Carlos Park Monday night.
According to San Carlos Park Fire Protection & Rescue Service District, fire crews were dispatched to the scene at 8:05 p.m. A garage caught fire the 8000 block of Winged Foot Drive.
The fire department said, “crews arrived on scene to find smoke and flames in the garage of the home, the fire was extinguished quickly before it could spread through the home.” The fire department added that working smoke alarms alerted the people in the house to the fire in the garage.
While flames damaged the garage, only smoke damaged the living area of the home. No one was hurt. The fire department confirmed via Facebook that SCPFD’s fire marshal is on scene to investigate the cause of the fire.
Lee County EMS, Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Estero Fire also responded. The Red Cross has been contacted to assist the occupants.
Gulf Coast News has a crew on the scene and will update this developing story.
