A Belleview woman was arrested twice after allegedly battering her soon-to-be ex-husband and his friend.
A deputy responded to the Belleview home of 61-year-old B on Saturday morning regarding a physical disturbance, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
B stated her husband had come to the residence to collect his personal belongings because they were getting a divorce, and a friend had accompanied him to help. A verbal altercation ensued among all three of them. During this time, the friend repeatedly used profane language toward her and refused to leave, the report said.
Her husband also kicked her as he was moving a large cabinet through the living room. She left through the front door and was standing at the end of the entrance when he kicked her once more on the foot. She reacted by pushing him back, which she later described as a strike to the arm, the report said.
The friend then stated he had B on camera. She continued yelling and telling him to leave, saying she did not want him there because he was rude and mean to her. She moved toward him, which she described as getting close and moving her hand toward him. He reached out his arm to touch her chest. B added that the only time she touched any person during the incident was strictly out of reactionary self-defense, the report said.
However, in the video recorded by the friend, B was aggressive and yelled at him to leave. He told her no and continued to encourage her husband to calmly gather his things so they could leave. At one point, B approached the friend until she touched him with her chest and told him to leave again, the report said.
The friend tried to separate himself using his arm, but she struck him and his camera. There was no damage to either. Additionally, the friend stated B struck her husband, although it was not captured on video, the report said.
The friend was also shoved in the back, but this was before the battery seen on camera. He was battered for a third time while trying to get into his vehicle, which was not on video, either. In the video, he was never aggressive or condescending toward B, despite her claiming otherwise, the report said.
Law enforcement later spoke with B’s husband over the phone. He advised that at no time did he strike B, and she must have marked her foot to support her allegation. He had actually been struck, but he had no marks. He also stated that he feared B, the report said.
B was arrested that morning for battering the friend and booked at the Marion County Jail. She was released the same day after posting $1,000 bond.
The Michigan native was arrested again the following day for battering her husband. She was booked at the jail and released on her own recognizance. She is responsible for appearing in court on Sept. 22.
