Airbnb renter shoots would-be robber in Fort Lauderdale

Police in Fort Lauderdale are investigating a shooting.

It happened on Thursday at approximately 6 p.m. along the 800 block of Northwest 19th Avenue.

According to police, officers responded to the scene and found a man who had been shot in the upper torso.

He was rushed as a trauma alert to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment.

Police said an Airbnb renter shot a would-be armed robber, identified as 18-year-old P, who broke into the home.

An investigation into the circumstances that led up to the shooting remained active and ongoing.

They said P is expected to face charges. He remained hospitalized on Friday.

Meanwhile, a 25-year-old accused accomplice, T, was taken into custody on attempted murder and home invasion charge.
