Alabama man in critical condition after traffic crash in Walton County

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a traffic crash on US Highway 331 South and Norris Cutoff Road on Tuesday night.

According to a news release, around 7:56 p.m., a 62-year-old man from Fairhope, Alabama, was traveling north in a pickup truck on US Highway 331 just north of Norris Cutoff Road in the left lane.

The man left the lane of travel to the left, crossing the fog line and into the grass median. He then crossed the southbound lanes of US Highway 331 before he entered the southbound shoulder of the highway.

Authorities said that he then collided with a ditch on the southbound shoulder of US Highway 331 and a metal fence. For approximately 150 feet, he continued before he struck a tree.

The truck came to a rest in a fenced vacant property on the west side of US Highway 331 against a tree, facing west.

Authorities said that the driver is still in critical condition.
