Emergency crews responded to a semi-truck fire on I-95 North at mile marker 315 in St. Johns County Friday afternoon.

By 4 p.m., the fire was extinguished, and all lanes were back open, but backups lingered.

According to a preliminary report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a semi was traveling north on I-95 when smoke started coming from the front end.

Investigators said the driver safely stopped on the outside shoulder and exited the vehicle.

He tried to put out the flames but was unsuccessful.

The cab then became fully engulfed in flames before firefighters extinguished the fire.

St. Johns County Fire Rescue reported no injuries in the incident.

Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area or seek alternate routes.
