Arcadia woman dies in crash with semi.

A 54-year-old Arcadia woman was killed Thursday afternoon when her sedan was hit by a semitrailer on U.S. 17, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Investigators say the woman was stopped at a stop sign at SW Senate Street, at the intersection of U.S. 17 at about 2 p.m.

At the same time, a semi-trailer was heading south on U.S. 17, approaching the intersection.

The sedan pulled into the intersection into the path of the semi, which hit the sedan on its left side, troopers said.

The woman died at the scene. The driver of the semi was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
